2026 YOUTH INSTITUTE DATES: WEDNESDAY, JULY 8 – THURSDAY, JULY 16 (weekdays)

At a moment when reproductive rights are under attack, we are not standing on the sidelines. At PAI, we believe young people must be equipped now—with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to lead. 

Across the world, we’ve seen what’s possible: young leaders are already shaping policies, influencing decisions, and driving change in their communities. In the United States, that leadership is more important than ever. 

Voice matters—but it’s not enough. Young advocates need skills, strategy, and access to engage decision-makers and push for real change. 

We invite U.S. Citizens who are current college students or recent graduates to take the next step in being champions for choice and rights —building the skills and power to fight for reproductive freedom.  Because when young people lead, lives are changed—and communities are stronger for it. 

About the Youth Institute:  

The Freedom Starts With Her Youth Institute for Reproductive Rights is building a powerful new generation of champions to join the global reproductive rights movement. The Institute invites U.S. college students (undergraduate and graduate) and recent graduates to spend seven days with PAI—from Wednesday, July 8 to Thursday, July 16 (weekdays)—engaging deeply with reproductive health and rights, learning the history of U.S. leadership in global reproductive health, and acquiring the tools needed for effective advocacy and accountability. 

Participants will explore how youth-led action has driven meaningful change around the world and gain practical insight into policy engagement pathways that advance universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights. Through interactive Learning Labs and direct engagement with PAI staff, policymakers, international advocates, and community partners, participants will learn the issues, sharpen their advocacy skills, and get inspired to act locally. 

Requirements and Deadline: 

• Application deadline:  FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2026 

• Notification of selected fellows: BY SUNDAY, JUNE 7, 2026 

• Youth Institute Dates:  WEDNESDAY, JULY 8, 2026 – THURSDAY, JULY 16, 2026 (weekdays) 

• College student or a recent graduate (within the last 2 years) from a university in the United States 

• Ability to participate in person at the PAI office in Washington, DC’s Dupont Circle – unfortunately we are unable to cover travel and lodging costs but will be able to provide a stipend of $300 to each participant as part of this program. 

• U.S. citizen 

• Completed application
